The company was established in 1967, and has played an important role of building Ghana through more than 50 years. Ghacem has two cement grinding plants in Tema and Takoradi, and a network of sales offices and depots throughout the country.
The establishment of Ghacem Limited marked a major turning point in Ghana’s development. Ghacem was founded by the Government of Ghana in collaboration with Norcem AS of Norway, on August 30, 1967. Ghacem has since inception produced more than 30 million tons of cement. Ghacem wants to continue to be Ghana’s biggest cement manufacturer and supply the market with good quality cement at a reasonable price.

Development in GhanaGhacem in Ghana's developmentOur factories in Tema and Takoradi, have produced over 30 million tonnes of cement since inception in 1967.
Ghacem continues to contribute to the economic development in Ghana with adequate investment to meet the nations needs when it comes to cement production. From 2012 to 2015 Ghacem spent over 52 Million Euros in expansion investment in Tema and Takoradi. Ghacem is a coner stone of Ghana 's infrastractural development having played part in major iconic monuments and buidlings across Ghana using Ghacem cement. These expansion works have improved the quality of Ghacem cement, reduced energy consumption at the plants, ensured efficient production and reduced environmental impact of the plants operations.
The three international certificates aquired for our operations since 2008 are:
ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System)OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety)ISO 9001 (Quality management System)Currently, Ghacem has a number of accredited distributors through-out the country. Periodic meetings are held with these distributors to establish the spirit and partnership. An awards ceremony is held at the end of the year to honour distributors who have sold the most number of bags.
